MVCSD News Zumbach Wins Legion’s State Flag Essay Contest
We are thrilled to announce that Anna Zumbach, daughter of Jennifer and David Zumbach, has won the prestigious American Legion’s state flag essay contest! After showcasing her incredible writing skills and passion for our nation’s flag, Anna triumphed at the local and district levels before claiming the top honor last Saturday.
This annual contest, hosted by the American Legion of Iowa, invites all 5th-grade students to express their thoughts on the significance of our flag. We’re proud to share that Carpenter Diesch White Post #436 of Earlville co-sponsors students in the Maquoketa Valley School District, and they chose Anna as this year’s local winner!
Anna is only the second student from Maquoketa Valley to achieve this remarkable feat, following in the footsteps of Anna Deutmeyer, who won in 2016.
